Hi all, I'm from Trinidad and I first implemented Power Teaching to my Form 1s - 11-12 year olds this week. It's the 2nd to last week of school before Easter Vacation and I just told the class they're at a more advanced time in the school year so we're adding to what we already know. Some of them thought it was childish but I kept at it, instituting a stroke for their non-enthusiasm. Eventually (in 3 mintues time) they all learnt off "Class-Yes" and the "Less Homework/ More Homework" Scoreboard technique. So next term, they'll already be familiar with some of the terms and we'll just pick up from there. I must say, I'm a little more stress free (in just 1 week, too!) and I have more time to move around the classroom, ensuring that the students do what they're supposed to.

Just wanna say, it might not work for every educator out there, but trying it or a while never hurts. Even if the students act like they don't want to participate, and you feel discouraged, just keep at it for a while. Eventually, it becomes habit, and the fact that they are allowed to make some 'noise' makes them release some of that pent-up energy (which they have tons of in this all-boys' school).

Thanks again to the Power teaching team. Keep up the good work and I do hope more people from the Caribbean join in this initiative.
