Today we had our first quarter awards ceremony, and we used WBT management strategies, such as "Class-Yes", "Hands and Eyes", and "Mirror". The parents were in awe as they watched a room full of first graders turn all of their attention on the speaker. Imagine how proud we were, as teachers, to know that our students have learned the procedures so well that we didn't need pull aside students for disrespectful behavior during an assembly. WHOO HOO! After the assembly, parents were thanking me for providing their children with such a fun, active learning environment. I laughed as one parent shared with another (in front of me) that she volunteers in my classroom because her child was always coming home talking about all of the fun things she was learning, and the parent wanted to check it out. She said that now she is hooked! It is the "Happy Spot" in her week!!! Hmmm, let me think...parents volunteering because the classroom is such a wonderful place to be...what a sweet deal!!!
