TOPIC: Biffy toons, woo

Biffy toons, woo 1 year, 5 months ago #4398

We are using Biffytoons each day as sight word practice, even my kinder non readers can spot and gesture a Biffy word on sight in independant readers. I am going to try to add "Crazy Prof." to my basal HM readers any suggestions.

Hi Annette:)! Are you talking about the decodable books? Those are not nearly as fun to "crazy professor" (at least in Kinder they aren't) so I usually do this with my read aloud stories; big books, etc. However, you can do it with the little books. Just start small with the reader~helper, then go from there. Let us know how it goes:)!

When I started Crazy Professor with my 4th and 5th graders, I let them watch the Crazy Professor video on the WBT website. This really helped them see what it was that I was trying to explain. Things went very smooth after that.

I would start with a high interest read aloud that has really good descriptive language. I find my small reading groups like it when I read aloud to them and they add the gestures. We then switch roles. After they have heard me read the passage, they then reread adding the expression they just heard modeled and I add the gestures. We use this process to get us ready for the Crazy Professor.
