Ok...so we all know that Rule #2 is the most broken rule in our classrooms! So...we played the timer game all last week and WHAT SUCCESS!!! Here is the game!

Set a time for a set time...we started with 3 min. If the class made it for 3 minutes without breaking rule #2 they got a smilie. If not they got a saddie! Then each smilie ups the timer by one minute. It took us a week but we are now up to 15 minutes on our timer and they actually got to the point that I was having to find things to give saddies for to keep the scoreboard at the +/- 3 rule! How awesome for kindergarten is that!!! Next week they will be earning stars (they get these for winning the scoreboard) toward their PLAY DAY at the end of the school year (only 4 weeks for us)!

The fact that my kinders can go 15 minutes without shouting out, talking to their neighbor, or making mouth noises for 15 minutes is amazing . My goal is to hit 25 minutes by the end of next week

That is so great Farrah!

Just a side note: My #2 rule is blank. Students always ask what it is for....I tell them I may need a rule I don't know of yet. For "some reason" it never gets filled in...hehe...but it allows me to draw attention to possible rules/procedures that might need to be discussed!

Farrah-

That is so awesome! I might have to do that with my 3rd graders next week, since it is the last week of school. They've been a little more excited these past 2 weeks, which is understandable with the end getting so close! Of course, my leader buttons are also great. When a student breaks rule 2, my rule 2 leader takes care of it for me by saying, "Rule 2." The rest of the class then says, "Raise your hand for permission to speak." I don't have to do a thing because they are taking care of it for me! I love WBT!

Thanks,
Staci
