TOPIC: First two weeks, & faculty presentation yesterday

First two weeks, & faculty presentation yesterday 2 years, 8 months ago #2240

I have survived my first two weeks of school. In general, I have a wonderful class. Even a couple that I had some behavior concerns about in the beginning, are actually doing pretty well and I've already been able connect with them on some level.

My class loves the class/yes and teach/okay. Next week, I'll be adding in the switch.

We are still working on a few things, but I am confident we'll get there. Things like knowing that once they respond yes, they are then quiet and have their attention on my, no talking one finishing procedures like lines, papers, etc... Talking is always an issue, but this year doesn't seem as bad as years past, and I have to credit that to WBT. I need to perfect some things myself as well, especially getting into the habit of doing the teach/okay more frequently.

Scoreboard has worked great. We've bet spelling bonus points, recess, bingo, snack, and talk time so far. They've only won the recess and bingo so far though.

My entire fourth grade team is loving it so far as well, with similar great responses and results in their own classes. Our admins love coming in and seeing what we are doing. They weren't too sure when they heard about it, but seeing it gives them a much better picture.

Yesterday, myself, with the help of my team, presented the basics of WBT to faculty. We had a great response. I've had at least 5 teachers come to me and say they REALLY liked what they saw, teachers from Prek all the way to 5th grade.

I encouraged everyone to join the site here and to post, post, post so we can get another conference here in Florida! We' aren't that far post wise behind Texas, I just saw!

So glad the site is back up!

Great work on the presentation. I'm sure you will have more folks coming by to see what you are doing.

Don't be too hard on your self with the Teach/Okay...remember to keep it short and just do it. It takes practice, but it is a powerful addition to your day.
