TOPIC: Implementing Super Speed Letters

Implementing Super Speed Letters 2 years, 7 months ago #2586

I am trying to get materials ready for my class to use the Super Speed Letters. Does each child in my room (I have 16) need their own copy of the Super Speed Letters? Or, do partners share a copy? If they share, do they each record the spot where they stopped after the time limit? Also, what's the best way to keep up with the copies? Should I hole punch them and put them in small 3 ring binders? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I have some students who (I believe) are ready for the Super Speed 100 words. How do I do both in my classroom? Some kids aren't ready for that and some are.

I teach 5th grade language arts, and I use Superspeed 1000. What I did was copy the set for each student, punch holes in the copies, and put them in 3 prong folders. I also made a recording sheet that the students keep at the back of their folders. Each time we do Superspeed, they record their line and word where they stopped so that they know where to start the next time. They LOVE playing! And their fluency definitely increases as the year goes on! Hope this helps some!
