Hi, I was wondering if anyone is working on a Power Pix for 4th grade California standards? I am very interested in using more WBT in my classroom next year and this seems to be the logical next step. Thanks for any help!

I was wondering does Power pix basically take place of a word wall? I would love to see if anyone else has any for fourth grade.

I was wondering the same thing...can we use these power pix on word walls? I haven't seen any on here specifically for 4th grade...but I plan to use what overlaps from 3rd and make some for 4th this year. When I do - Ill be happy to share!

I taught first grade and had all my power pix printed out, but found out almost 2 weeks ago, I am moving to 4th grade. I am in Louisiana and was planning on making my own power pix as I go this year. As I do I will be happy to post and share.

I'm not sure what all you used for a word wall; however, in my school we have to post essential questions. They are more like critical thinking questions you would ask after a lesson. I got permission to use the power pics instead since they provide the question and answer to a skill along with the gesture. The critical thinking component is built right into the 5 step lesson plan. I am also using the 3rd grade pics for 4th grade. If I get into 4th grade skills with them(they are below grade level) I will make more. I hope this helps.

What would the first steps be in creating Power Pics? Do I just look at my standards that I am teaching and make up the gestures and find pics and then put it all together? I guess that's it! Sounds simple, but hard/time consuming as well. I teach 4th grade in California and I would love to see what others come up with. I'll figure out how to share when I come up with something.

Thanks!!

I am not sure when the 4th grade core standards will be complete. It isn't hard to make them. I haven't figured out how Coach Biff designs his boarder, but I made a smaller boarder and color coded it blue or red. Think of a picture that you think makes sense to go with your question and answer. Google an image and place it on the page. It isn't too difficult, just time consuming. You can also use your students to come up with a gesture. How cool is that? If it makes sense, they may even remember it more easily because it was their idea! Good luck!

I just created a very first version of a Power Pix type poster for a complete message/ sentence . I know it needs some serious modification, but I like to have what it means on the poster as well. We are a high poverty, high-mobility school. New students need to access the info fast.

What are your thoughts?

Hi,

I thought that I did, but it might have been scrubbed. I don't think this is an actual Power-Pix as I added text. It worked for my students, today, though. They 'got it' and had fun with the visual. They then and dramatically explained the sign to their partner.
