Though we don't begin the school year until the first week in August, I've started my prep work already. (Yes I know I'm a little bit of an over achiever!) Because I am a sort of new WB teacher having only used it for about half a year, I was wondering if those of you who have been using it for a while have a letter of some kind that is sent to parents explaining to them what the system is all about and what they might expect. During our parent orientation, I'll go over the system, but of course you have some parents who don't attend and a letter would be helpful for them as well.
With 3rd graders, actual information about what goes on in class can be skewed and from personal experience this past year, it can be a nightmare when that happens. I'm the kind of teacher that likes to keep parents informed, but not to the point where the students (and parents) are babied throughout the year. As I tell my parents every year, my goal, aside from teaching the subject matter, is to help their child become a more independent and responsible for "me" person.
