Any suggestion on how to implement WBT in a departmentalized classroom? I will have 3 classes rotating through. I haven't used WBT before, but I am extremely interested. I just don't know how I would do it within 3 rotations? Any ideas?

There is no reason that you can't use these strategies even if you rotate classes.

I have mainly used the class-yes, teach-ok, some of the common procedures, and a bit of the score board, so I'm not an expert, but it is all very easy to introduce.

I even used the class-yes, and teach-ok when we rotated all of our grade level for testing review. I only had each group for less than two hours, but the kids picked up on the procedures in less than five minutes and it helped them stay engaged.

If you are wondering how to do the classroom management levels for three different classes, I'm assuming it would be pretty easy to simply have 3 small scoreboards on the white board at one time. When I was in a room with little wall space, I put alot of posters on hangers and hung them in the front of the class as needed. You might be able to do something similar for the practice cards and have one pocket chart poster for each class.

I wouldn't worry if you decide to use Whole Brain practices, and your teaching partners do not. As I said, the kids pick it up so quicly, it shouldn't be a problem.

We are switching classes for the coming year. My team is all on board. I've got them all excited to use WBT. I'm so excited for this coming year, less than a week now.

Because we are all going to use WBT I have a few ideas

1. the score board follows the class on a small white board. Then that group gets the resulting end of day reward or what ever.

2. I will stop a few minutes early to give them the earned free time or practice before we switch.

3. I'll see my homeroom twice a day they could pick up and continue the scoreboard where we left off from the morning. The other class will get their few minutes before they leave me.

Last year I used option 2. since we only ever get 3 minutes either way it isn't to much time and I didn't have to worry about the other teachers not doing WBT. this year i need to speak to my teammates and figure out how we want to start. I have a feeling it will change during the year.

Thats my book- hope it helps
