I've tried to make scoreboard parties a little more exciting for the students by changing them for the season. In October, we had "Spooky" / "Boohoo" and I even changed the frown face to one of a ghost. I'm looking for some November ideas. I have a new frownie of an Indian so I was thinking of something Thanksgiving related. I had thought about Gobble Gobble, but I'd like to have one for both and - any thoughts?

Aww, I love that idea! I bet my first graders would love that too! Maybe for November you can use something along the lines of "thankful" and "not thankful", Pumpkin pie vs. _____ , a stuffed turkey vs. a skinny turkey, or happy turkey vs. sad turkey.

Lately, I have been saying one of my student's names followed by "Class!" For example, I might say, "Sarah, Class" and the class responds by saying "Sarah, Yes!" They also enjoy animal noises and made up words before "Class!" For example, "Bazinga, Class" or "Meow, Class!"

A little late, but maybe for next year:

For the mighty groan, "Aw stuffing!" One of my first graders has been saying it since the beginning of the year, so I'm sure he probably heard it on a cartoon.

OK, time for a season change again, so I thought I'd start this topic up again. In December I used "jingle bells, jingle bells"/"Bah-humbug" for my scoreboard. I think for the first week back I'll use the fireworks version I read about somewhere ("Boom-ssss"/ "It's a dud"). After that, I'll need something winter related. In late February, I'll use "Throw me something" (waving hands up)/"Too high"(looking up and over) for a Mardi Gras touch. Anyone have any ideas?

The week before Christmas break I chose my favorite holiday character like the Grinch and I would draw a name to choose for the student side. They would choose Frosty or Rudolph for example. We have also played sports teams as well and this really gets them fired up. I choose the sport, they choose the team. Right now of course it's football. I am a Michigan State fan and they chose Ohio Buckeyes for the week

Student says: "Oh how my teacher is awesome"

Teacher: Oh how I love my class
Students: Oh how I love my teacher

Teacher:Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Class
Student: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, yes!

Teacher:Aloha Class
Student: Aloha teacher

During Christmas we use:

Teacher: Oh Merry Christmas Class
Students: Oh Merry Christmas, teacher

Teacher: Ho ho ho, class
Students: Ho, ho, ho teacher
