I tutor a 3rd grader. We work on homework and extra practice....he's not always thrilled to see me after already having a long day at school. So today at the last minue I brought out the SCOREBOARD! Tutor vs. Student!
He had the chance to earn one minute more or less of our tutoring session. I almost thought he wasn't going to buy it, but he went all out and LOVED the Oh-yeahs!

Over the summer this student's mother would bribe him with prizes from the dollar store if he did his best during tutoring. I have a feeling that the scoreboard will turn out to be more effective, not to mention free!
