TOPIC: question about mind soccer

question about mind soccer 1 year, 1 month ago #5204

Got a late start but caught the livechat mind soccer program, it was so valuable. Love the bear!

My children loved saying positive trash talk even as kinders and first graders they changed:

Team one: In your face, we are in first place
Team two: Not so fast, it may not last

Can some one help me since I missed the ability to text, how would I use power pix pictures and pose them as a ? to each team?

Annette,

When playing mind soccer I don't use the power pix unless the student is having trouble recalling the answer to my question. If I for instance say to team one: "what is the one less than rule?" and they can not give it to me...I might point to the power pix to JOLT their brain!

But more often than not I will say: Team One: Is 4 one less than 5? Then they would answer YES! And I would say: What rule do we use when answering that question? And they would give me the rule! Hope that helps!

Ten finger woo-fire work sizzle (or what my class loves, the coyote TNT pow, from "Roadrunner") to you.

Yes, your answer helps a lot, This is directed to you, I am going to have my children stand for some of our WBT work. After seeing your video I can see much more direction from your kids than when my children sit and teach/ok and do "mirror" at our rug. I think I am missing contact with them.

Suggestions on when, how and tricks that you have found.

You are my hero!

Annette,

I use the standing to do teach/ok because my little kinders spent too much time fumbling with chairs...even though they were following directions quickly! LOL! So...the only tricks I have found is teaching them how to stand still LOL! Not kicking feet and such...but other than that before you have them to teach/ok I say "bodies up" and they repeat three times and stand. Then we go at it!

Farrah, your video was definitely impressive. After seeing your video, I too have been having my students stand for teach ok sometimes. It keeps me from having to say "partner knees" over and over.

Regarding the webcast about mind soccer, I think that one way of playing mind soccer was to use the power pix instead of questions. Show the pix, ask the question, and have team respond with the answer. I didn't purchase the slides that Biff showed, but now I wish I had. Oh well...
