I've been using Class-Yes for about a week. The other day with my first graders, a boy was reading the sentence, "The teacher took the class to the zoo." When the boy got to the word "class", he stumbled and couldn't sound it out. I helped him by saying "class." All the other kids piped up "YES"! It was funny and cool to see how in tune they are to it.

Very cute - I love 1st graders!

I lost my voice for 1 full week last month... which made Whole Brain Teaching difficult. My students loved to say "Class" for me. I would walk up and whisper to a student to get everyones attention, and they would come up with their own way to say "Class". I would also let them do Teach/Okay and Charge! - they loved it!

If I get a cold or my allergies act up I lose my voice for a couple of days. Last year I started pulling up my PowerPoint, and making a slide that I kept up all day. I record the most common phrases I use. Class-Yes! Teach-OK (a couple of different ones of those with different claps), two or three different One Second Parties and Mighty Groans, that sort of thing.

The kids actually like it.

I also record the narration for slides in PowerPoint so my auditory learners get something out of it. On narrations I call them up with Class-Yes' and Teach-Ok's.
