TOPIC: model class help!

model class help! 9 months, 2 weeks ago #7206

Big question, the genius ladder - can I place one as a model with information posted for kids on the bulliten board and then use one for the daily instruction piece on my doc camera? I don't use the screen provided(I am short:-) I use the wall (it makes it bigger than the screen) and right in front of the community rug. If I had a smart board I guess I'd ask the same question.
Does this make sense to any one but me.
Annette.

This makes sense to me Annette. I think I am going to have a ladder for display either on a bulletin board, or in a pocket chert, but I may very well do my demos and teaching on the Smartboard. (I've already made a Smartboard Mind Soccer file that I'm excited to use). But I do want a visual reminder/display up there for them to reference throughout the day.

Annette,

I put up wide strips of bulletin board border on a wall. For the rungs, I found dry erase sentence strips. This way, we can write examples and erase them for new ones. I will probably use my Smartboard for instruction, but the wall display can be up all day.

Rand,
Your students will love the soccer field on the Smartboard. My students did last year. Although this is not necessary, the students get excited about it. What grade level do you teach. I have 3rd and 4th learning support. I have been looking for a fellow WBT that would be interested in doing a joint lesson via the Smartboard. If you are interested in hearing my idea, let me know. I teach in a small town in Western PA.

Hey Rebecca!
I teach 3rd grade in Portland, Oregon, and our school's one Smartboard can usually be found in my classroom. I have no idea what a joint lesson via Smartboard entails, but I am certainly interested in hearing your idea. Sounds exciting!

Awesome! I really want to visit Portland. My husband always tells me how beautiful it is there. Well, until then, a Smartboard lesson may be the next best thing. My friend did a live Skype video lesson with students in Alaska last year. It was really cool. That gave me the idea of how cool it would be to use WBT with another class via Skype on the Smartboard. One of us can lead the class and both classes would follow. Then we could switch. I star school in two weeks. Once we get settled into our routines, we can talk more and collaborate specifically on what we can teach. Since I am learning support, I basically teach language arts and math. I am flexible though. Thanks for responding.

Sounds great! I like the idea of expanding the kids' horizons by meeting a class on the other side of the country. there are so many things we could do, but starting out with a language arts lesson sounds great. I start school with the kids on Sept. 6. Lets keep in touch.

I am so jealous, anyone want to donate a smart board. I am tired of waiting all these years our upper grade classes have them.

I definitely will Rand! So excited! Sorry Annette. Our school just got them for everyone last year. It is great so far but I still have a lot to learn.
