I would love to be able to use Power Pix more, but would need to create some of my own at the middle school level. Is there a template available so that I could just plug in the information?

I made a PowePoint template for PowerPix and put it on SlideShare.com. You can easily download it and change it however you wish. You will need a Facebook or gmail account, I think, to logon.

Here's the link to my template (actually a PowerPoint of all my PowerPix to-date):

Enjoy,

Thank you! I just downloaded it. That will be so helpful! Once I get a few finished for my class I will post them on here.

Jen,

Wow, your template is awesome and will make it so much easier to make Power Pix for fifth grade. Thank you for sharing your template and my grade level is going to get busy creating Power Pix for our curriculum.

Those are awesome power pics, Jen. How did you make your boarders? Since I teach 3/4th, I haven't needed to make too many yet, but the few that I did, I couldn't get a thick enough boarder. I think I tried to make mine in word. Did you do it directly in Power Point?

It's easy to change the borders - just change the "background" color on the slide. (The white part in the middle is actually an opaque "text box" superimposed over the background).

Just right-click anywhere on your slide, choose "background" and change the color. Or, go to the Format Menu, then select "Background" and change the "background fill" color. I'll be using different colors for different units, because I think that makes more sense for my content-specific vocabulary. (As opposed to the way elementary uses one color for math, and one for language arts).

Enjoy,
Jen

And, yes...I did it in Powerpoint. The nice thing about slideshare.com is that it DOES preserve all the formatting....(too bad it doesn't work for WORD documents...)

What a great job! You are my hero...will try the same for my 6th grade MA Science! Thank you.
