Does anyone have a gesture for rounding numbers?

Re: Gesture for rounding numbers 11 months, 2 weeks ago #5960

I am thinking back to Farrah's video where she used plus one means add up, and minus one go down. She did an addition sign, and pointed with one arm up. Then a subtraction sign, and one arm down.
Could you modify this to show a circle in the air, say the number _____, the raise one hand in the air for round up and give the number ____________.
Just a thought, Annette

There is a PowerPix for rounding. Five or higher you round up, 4 or lower stays the same. If I'm remembering correctly, the PowerPix says 4 or lower you round down, but we changed it to stays the same because the number doesn't decrease. Does that make sense? I also wrote a number on the board and we would say it while looking at the PowerPix and pointing to the number we were wanting to round. You may want to check out the Math PowerPix for more information, but this worked really well with my 3rd graders! Hope this helps.

Thanks,
