TOPIC: Gettysburg Address

Gettysburg Address 3 years, 3 months ago #69

With my 4th graders, we are studying Lincoln in homor of his 200th birthday. We want to read the Gettysburg Address with fluency. Please help us with suggestions for gestures. Thank you for your time and help!

This sounds to me like the perfect opportunity for the "Crazy Reading Professor Game." If you're unfamiliar with the activity I believe there is a video on this website that will demonstrate it. Through the Crazy Reading Professor Game students create their own gestures. If they don't understand the meaning of a word let them use the dictionary to define it. I find it works best with my class when they read silently first and create their own gestures while reading. Then they pair up and summarize both verbally and with gestures. Hope this helps!

Sounds like the perfect answer! I have downloaded the Crazy Professor but have not introduced it yet. . .I will tell them that we are Crazy History Professors. Thanks for the tip! We'll be trying it tomorrow.
