I have been teaching kindergarten in an inner-city school. This is my 4th year. Every year I start off fine, but by January I have lost control of my class and it is a chore to get up every morning to go to work. I do love my students and I feel sorry for many of them becasue of their living situations. I am looking forward to start the new school year, and I am planning to use the power teaching rules and many of the ideas put forth in this program. I am hoping that this might make my job a little easier. Does anyone have an suggestions for keeping control in my classroom?

I suggest you start your year WB Teaching.

Day 1 - teach Rule one, class/yes, and scoreboard, hands and eyes (Practice throughout the day and only focus on Rule one). Also practice any other procedures and routines that are important to your class.

Day 2 - 5 each of the other rules and the ones previously taught.

The rules can be found in the free downloads section, as well as, other posters and they are FREE...

Also, check out the biffytoons. They are high frequency words with gestures and posters...

Remember, kindergarteners, love to learn while having fun, as we all do. So switch it up and when you get stuck come back to the forum and ask some more questions.
