Hello everyone!!! This is my first year as a teacher. It as been a year since I graduated from University of South Carolina-Aiken where I first learned about Power Teaching and Whole Brain Teaching. I actually stumbled upon it while doing research for a reading class and loved what I found! I used it in my lesson presentations, student internship, and even at the daycare and preschool center where I worked for almost 5 years while in college. WBT became my signature strategy for classroom management. My last day at my intern placement, my cooperating teacher said to me, "You have to do your 'oh class' one more time!" I looked at my third graders as they anxiously waited to get out of their seats so we could hug and say our goodbyes. I said, "Oh CLAAASSS!" and they answered "Oh YEEESSS!" The classroom was instantly quiet and every student looked at me waiting for directions. I could give directions almost in whisper, not having to yell over anyone or spend several seconds or minutes still trying to get them quiet. That is one thing about me, I demand their undivided attention but it never done in an intimidating way. It's always fun. I'm often criticized for being the young teacher or the fact that I look younger than my actual age, especially by family because they can't believe I work with middle schoolers and survive each day! I currently teach 5th and 6th grade math and science and 5-7th grade health. WBT goes along with the policies at my school and will keep me looking younger than my age because I go home with a smile and stress free! WBT makes everything easy for the teacher and students enjoy the assignments they do in my class. The scoreboard is very effective also. I just read the other ideas to go along with the scoreboard so I will using those when we return from holiday break. So EXCITED!!! Happy New Year everyone!!!

Hey, that is FAB-U-lous! Especially for you to testify that yes, this DOES work with middle-schoolers. In fact, this is the only thing that kept me alive and sane while teaching middle-school. The fact that a first-year teacher can pick it up and run class so smoothly is certainly a testament to the effectiveness...and sheer joy that it brings to what would be an otherwise incredibly stressful day!

Power to the teachers!
