Hi, I am really intrigued with WBT. I teach 9th grade algebra and have an inclusion class that is really struggling with basic concepts. The class is well-behaved but dull. They can't stand lecture (neither can I), and many are disinterested in the learning process. WBT looks like fun-but I am nervous, afraid and 55 years old and don't know if I want to try something new! I am looking for encouragement and how to reset the password because I cannot remember the computer generated one-ever. Thanks.

Your nervousness is normal, and there is certainly a lot in Whole Brain Teaching to tackle. Take heart though, I'm self taught as well and it can be done. I have a few suggestions for you. First, watch the videos that are available to you via the video tab. Chris Biffle takes you step by step through the process for beginning with your class. There is certainly a right way and wrong way to go about it...I've seen both and it's important that it's done correctly in order to get proper buy in. However, done right, you'll have the students eating out of your hand. Secondly, don't try to implement everything at once. I would say try 1 step each week. By the end of the month you'll have the basics down and you'll feel confident about trying other steps. Also, by then your students will be used to a constant give and take between yourself and them. Boredom will be a thing of the past! Don't give up...your students deserve a more engaging education.

Also-- Biff always tell us --
When you start this in the middle of the year.... *don't* say "I'm going to try something new...."

You act like it's always been your plan...

" At about this point in the year, I move students to a more advanced system. I've been watching our class closely, and I think you're ready for this..."

We're such manipulators. But in such a lovely way!
