Hello all,

I just discovered your site from a mention on the www.teachers.net message boards. I just finished my first full year of teaching (2009-2010) and am spending some time this summer trying to decide how I want to improve over last year - especially my classroom management skills!

I must say that I am very excited about Whole Brain Teaching and hope to begin doing it in my classes this Fall. I am a bit nervous about how my admin might respond, so I gave my Principal a heads-up via email, with a link to some videos.

I teach in an urban public Charter High School, and we are under tremendous pressure to make AYP (Annual Yearly Progress) and improve our test scores (which we've done 3 years running).

So, our admin has been very supportive of "using best-practices" to improve "learning outcomes." At the same time, they have created a VERY strict schoolwide discipline system and have historically expected "quiet" classrooms. (i.e. noise is equated with "disorder" by some in admin). So, I'm curious to see if they'll support me in this....
