TOPIC: Courageous Newbie!

Courageous Newbie! 6 months, 3 weeks ago #8926

I am a first grade teacher in Kansas. This year more than any before, I feel that my typical methods of classroom management are growing less and less effective. After being turned on to the YouTube videos by my teaching partner, I am excited and eager to try out WBT in my classroom.

I am also nervous, of course! I am not sure what to expect or how to make the transition as successful as possible. I hope my 24 little ones are ready and willing as I am!

Welcome! Here is some advice.....don't feel bad if you don't get it all down perfectly in a hurry. Just do little bits as you can, and your students will love it!

Your first graders are ready and willing for anything that you bring their way! Just remember model, model, model, and practice, practice, practice! Make sure that you use the www.wholebrainteaching.com website for all the resources that will help you successfully implement WBT strategies in your classroom. The newest resource is the WBT TV which is broadcast live each Tuesday or if you can't make it at that time, the lessons will be put in the library for future viewing. The more you hear it, see it, model it, and practice it, the easier it will become for you and your students. Jump in, have fun, and watch learning soar to new heights! Keep us posted on your progress!

I started today and it was AWESOME! We even had a field trip and the kids responded to my "class" when I called out to them. This was with less than 30 minutes of practice! Hoping to get to rules tomorrow!

A little less nervous, a little more confident and definitely ready for more!

You go, go, go Jennifer when you get to the rules you will find a whole new world and take a lot of the pressure off you. Have your class repeat the rule you see broken and never point out who dun it. It will be magic. If I was a beting gal I bet you will find it is rule 2!
Good luck..(like you need it with w b t) Annette
