Well, I'm doing a reintroduction since it's been so long since I've been on here. I recently quit teaching in Arizona, moved back up to Washington where I got a job as a Center Director for a tutoring center. But, from June-October I was applying like MAD for teaching positions. I believe I applied for at least 30 just in one district alone, which didn't include my desperation for a job to which I applied for secretarial and para positions as well. I figured anyway into the district would be beneficial to me!

Finally, end of October, I get a call from an elementary school wanting to interview me. I got the job 3 days later! I am now a 1st grade teacher with a small class size! woo hoo! I can't WAIT to try WBT again!

(Side note: last year I had 35 kids in my classroom and WBT just did NOT work....)

So, I'm back. Can't wait to get caught up on everything and watch some videos for retraining!

Welcome back and congrats on your new job. First grade will really eat it up. Just focus on the first steps here in the beginning. Start with class yes and scoreboard. Since they are small, you may want to teach a rule a day until they get all five. You are in the right place here on the forum. Read and watch videos. Let us know if you need any help and post all the great things happening in your new classroom! We love to hear it all! Good luck.

April,

Welcome back to WBT. I think you will love it. I'm surprised that it didn't work for you before. I agree with Rebecca, focus on the big seven in the order that is recommended, watch the videos, and use the forum. Everybody wants you to have success with WBT. In my experience first graders love it. Having a small class on top of that is a blessing. You should have a great rest of the school year.
