My technology teaching postion has been elminated in my district (budget cuts) and I will have to return back to the classroom. I'm excited yet somewhat apprehensive as teachers and administrators sometimes are not on the same page. I don't have a teaching position yet for the nextg school year.

I would love to learn more about "power teaching" and all of its benefits.

I've taught grades 1, 2, 3, and 5. I prefer to teach primary.

I would check out "Teaching Challenging Students" in the download section and watch the videos. Crazy Professor is 4th grade, as is Critical Thinking, but there are some lessons from across the spectrum. I would focus on the classroom management stuff and teach/okay. Where are you located? Seeing a conference in person helps out a lot. Good luck!

You're in luck, we're offering a Free seminar in Pennsylvania this summer on June 27th! Check out the "calendar" for more details and email me if you're interested in attending.

The benefits of Power Teaching is a managed classroom where learning is fun and exciting! No more of the old days, where the teacher just talked, talked and TALKED (BORING!!)! Now, your lessons will be broken up into mini-lessons and the students will have the time to do what they love best: TALK TO THEIR NEIGHBOR!!! And the best part is they get to do what they like to do....while they are doing exactly what you want them to do: ACTIVELY LEARNING!!! Using the gestures while teaching and learning is an added bonus: it gives your students that TPR (total physical response) that is conducive to whole brain learning. What could be better!!! Good luck next year and keep us posted on how it goes!!!

I live right outside of Washington DC and I teach in Alexandria, VA.

I haven't had any interviews for any classroom positions and I have to admit, I am quite nervous about interviewing...I haven't had to go on an interview for a teaching position since 1995! Any tips or words of encouragement on interviewing, what questions are administrators asking these days???

When I was getting back into the classroom after 20 years, and not getting hired, I talked to several principals, teachers, and even the personnel director and asked what I could do to make myself more marketable. There are certain things in each state and every district that they focus on. Find out what is important in your state/district. For example, in my district, there is now a push for all teachers to use sheltered instruction. If you can find out things like that and take some coursework, it will make you that much more desirable. Since you haven't been in the classroom for awhile, you have to put yourself in a position that will make them consider you above someone with recent classroom experience.

We will also allow time for educators to practice the techniques that are taught. It's totally FREE! If you're interested please visit the calendar tab for more information and then email me.
