Hello from Pittsburg, California. I'm Melissa AKA scrapbunny and Whole Brain Teaching has kept me from losing my mind in my first year teaching 1st grade. I'm so excited for this new site and forum. I know next year will be so much better because of Whole Brain Teaching.

What parts of WBT do you do with your first graders?
Classroom Management only or are they doing the "pair teaching " part too?
Thanks

Hello Pittsburg,
I am useing most of WBT in my first grade classroom in CA. it is going great!! I use the mighty groans and oh yeahs I also use superspeed math and a form of the one minuute reading. I use our High Frequency words instead of the words given by WBT but it is the same form!!
Good luck!!

I saw WBT for the first time yesterday with a 3rd grade teacher. It was incredible! I want to share it with our principal. L

Hi, can you give me tips on Where to start learning about WBT. I'm kinda confused by the web site. So many small posts / downloads I'm having trouble seeing the big picture, the components and steps to introducing things. Tks

We're now Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) which more accurately reflects our methods than Whole Brain Teaching. A good place to start is with "First Steps" in the menu at the top of the screen. As you get other questions, post them here and we'll help you along. Before long, you and your students will be transforming each other into Whole Brainers!

I'd start by watching the videos from chris on the main elements of PT/WBT, then all of the videos by grade, no matter what grade you teach because they show the power of this type of teaching. then download and read the challenging kids ebook. Hope that helps.

Thought I would do an update on my introduction. This is my 3rd year in first grade using WBT and I would not have survived without it. The last 2 years I did not have an admin support and had VERY challenging students some with sever emotional issues. WBT helped my students to make big gains despite the issues. This year I have added more WBT tools to my teaching and feeling more confident. So excited to have the live broadcast to help me refine and add more tools to my teaching. If you want to know more about me, as a teacher and person, you can hop over to my blog, Scrapbunny.blogspot.com
