I have a friend that is a youth minister at a local church and I was recently talking her ear off about Whole Brain Teaching. She has a slightly different situation than a normal classroom though. She works with junior high students in a group of about 100, and though she does do "talks," it isn't a classroom setup. It seems to me that several of the strategies could still be used, but I'm wondering if anyone has actually experimented with it in a different situation like that? Does anyone have any advice for my friend?

I would suggest she first get really familiar with the Big Six steps. With a group that big she will want some help. Try to find a core group of about five to ten good students whom she can train to be the leaders in her group. She might want to meet with them a few, days, or at least a few minutes before she is ready to give a "talk".

The core group can learn the gestures she is going to use, and help teach them to the rest.
