How do the students get set up into partners? I noticed that they were already sitting next to their partners. How did that come about? How does that work when they are on the carpet area and when they need to transition to their seats? Do the partners always sit next to each other everywhere in the room? Thanks!

Hi there! In my classroom, Teach! Okay! -partners are where ever the students are~ it's the person sitting right next to them:)! This makes it easy and flexible when students are absent. When I do the TEach! Okay! With the switch~ I number students off as a 1 or a 2. The great benefit of doing that on our rainbow rug is that all the friends in red and green are ones and all the friends in orange and blue are twos! Too easy! EXCEPT~ I will have up to 32 this year~ So there will be some tweaking now that I will have to do~ but nothing that a quick count off can't solve.
For the purposes of Super Speed games, it is better to have a higher student with a lower student to help accommodate "helpsies"

I second what Andrea said!!! When I do teach/ok it happens with whom ever is sitting next to each other! I like this because partners change and there is more participation within the group.

I did run into a time last year where when transitioning to the carpet I would say...sit next to your partners. However that mainly happened with math when we had been at our desks working and teaching and then moved to the carpet to use our math board...since they were already with a partner at their desks I had them stick with the same partner. And even my kinders could do this!!!
