Hi everyone,

I have taken the plunge and started Day 1 this Fall with WBT in my Freshman Physics First classes at FranklinTowne Charter High School in Northeast Philadelphia. My first 4 days have gone swimmingly - dare I say, 200% better than my first four days LAST year?

Anyhow, I'm the only one at my school trying it out, so I'd love to hear from others in the PHilly area, if you're out there.

I am not in the Philly area, but I am in the Pittsburgh area and have just starting using WBT this year. I love it. I am the only one using it, but I actually had a teacher ask me "What were you doing in your class today? It sounded like fun!" My reply, "Teaching the way I teach now everyday! It is fun!" I also got a great professional observation by my building principle with an email from the Super for a great job!

Hi. I'm completely on the other end of the spectrum- teaching first grade in the suburbs of Northeast Philly. I have a very challenging group this year. We'll see how it goes.

I'm a French teacher in south central PA. I teach grades 9-12, and I plan on re-starting WBT this coming week. You gotta' go all in! No half-baked tries- it doesn't work!

I tried it last year and it fizzled after some negativity about WBT leaked out in my building- see my "getting re-invested in WBT post in the Secondary Schools thread.

HI all,

Sorry I haven't checked in for awhile. Well, I am in my second semester of using WBT now, and I feel like I'm only scratching the tip of the proverbial iceberg. My kids really respond to the ScoreBoard and gestures, but I know I'm not using Teach-OK as consistently (and as frequently) as I should be. I find I am still talking too long at times....

I am really hoping to attend one of the conferences this summer - probably the National Conference in June. Luck has it that my kids (my son and daughter) have school through June 17. The school I teach in (a Charter) is done June 10. So I could go to the LA conference June 13-15 without too much of a childcare issue (Dad can get them on the bus and pick them up after work).

I just checked airfares on Travelocity from Philly to Alexandria, LA, and it's about $500 roundtrip - FYI. So, if any of you are thinking of going, I'd love to meet up with you in person. Maybe we can have a Pennsylvania contingent...

OK - I just made it official and registered for the National Conference. Let me know if any of you (from PA) are going. I'd love to meet you in person.

I'm new to WBT and plan on starting it when I start my new position in 6th grade this fall. I've taught primary for 15 years, so this is a step back to my roots. I teach in west central PA in a high poverty district. I'm excited about trying this!

I am in Western PA and teach north of the city. If you need any help in getting started, I will be glad to help. I just attended my first conference inPhoenix. It was really inspiration and built so much more upon what I was already doing. Annette is right to watch the videos and study the Ebooks. Get to know your big seven! Start you year off with the "class yes", scoreboard, teach ok, and the class rules. Build upon them as the year goes. Be consistent with it and try not to do it all at once! It is easy to get excited and get anxious, but you have all year. I hope to hear back from you so that we can learn more together this year! Good luck!
