I finally got around to looking properly. - Sorry about delay.
It looks to be a sound approach - I have a friend (USA teacher of difficult kids) working in a langauge mill in Seoul. He uses many of the techniques (self developed - not Wholebrain stuff)and it is very effective.
I will have to think about how this may work with only 6 contact hours a week in one subject.
My grade one Oral English classes really need something, but with one class every 2 weeks I am not about to try and instead rely upon my ear splitting whistle to get attention when their happiness gets too over the top! Every class is different game centered, team competitive, activity and each has some educational goals underpinning it. It is a shame that I cannot get get any linkage with the Class English teachers so I cannot lever off the rest of their work. Never mind I think I am doing about as well as you can with 60 plus hyper kids and they have a lot of fun making some memorable progress! (At least the keenest half of the class!)
The main issue with my IUP kids is a few boys who are not at all motivated to do anything at school. They do not cause big problems as the Chinese teachers have removed most of the fight from them! I am getting willing engagement but insufficient progress due to lack of application etc.
I struggle to get a lot of 'gamish activity' into IUP around the prescribed lessons but the tone is light and with only 23 I can maintain personal engagement with all the kids. (Esp with their feedback in the RLJs.)
So is anyone applying Whole Brain Teaching ideas/products here?
