TOPIC: Active Research on Reading Fluency in SpEd classro

Active Research on Reading Fluency in SpEd classro 8 months, 1 week ago #8248

Hello!
I am working on my Master's (will get December 2011). I will be doing an active research study in my special education classroom. I am doing it on reading fluency and plan on using the super speed reading in my classroom as part of the study. I'm real excited!!

I just want to know if anyone has used this in the classroom? I've used it in tutoring one-on-one, and I have noticed a difference.

What can you suggest for charting progress? I've got ideas, but just wonder if anyone else has "better" ideas?

Thanks to any and all of you!
~Angie

I'm doing the same research, but not in a special needs setting! Maybe we can compare and share?

Why not use the SuperSpeed Record Stars at the back for charting progress? One of the best things about the games is that they have progress charting built in, and the students are doing it for you!

I have just begun using Super Speed 100 in my special education reading/writing class. I assign it as homework to be practiced on at home. Fridays, students partner up and do two one-minute timed readings. I have them record the best score on there handout and date it. I can collect the Super Speed 100 handouts at any time and record results by date. The kids enjoy it and I have data to verify what I am doing.

I am starting the research portion of masters as well and am doing the same thing. How did it work for you? I am really excited about implementing the program in my class.
