I was just wondering if you can use whole brain teaching in the physical education classroom? I have been watching videos and I fell in love with whole brain teaching. I think its great!!! Can anyone answer my question?

I think Whole Brain Teaching works GREAT in PE. (Besides, its acronym is WBT which also stands for Physical Training!)

You can use TEACH/OKAY when giving instructions to the students and when establishing routines. Depending on your teaching style, you can do your own variations on CLASS/YES that will help keep your students motivated and engaged. (Kind of like calling out cheers or marching cadences.)

Start simple and keep adding or tweaking WBT to match you and your students and have fun teaching!

Of course, why not?

I use it (Class-yes and rules) in my Elementary Music Class and it works great. The kids LOVE it. I'm working on incorporating the other aspects.

I'm currently a class teacher and I also teach PE to my students.
I'm constantly using WBT, even in PE.
I have to say that it's a little harder in PE than in the classroom, but just because it's a little harder to carry the scoreboard than in class. For all the other things, it is exactly the same.
Yes, your voice suffers a little more because when kids are physically involved in games and so on, you have to rise your voice higher than in class, but with class/yes it's not that big issue, you only need to "shout" class.

Best,

Edward
